linkylea festival

Edinburgh University Students Union (EUSA) is busy getting ready to welcome this year’s new intake of students, with Fresher’s Week kicking off this Saturday (6th Sept). There is a full schedule of events over the following week with plenty of variety so that everyone should be able to find something that interests them.  It is a great opportunity for students to meet fellow students and get a taste of what EUSA has to offer; they can take a tour of the city, check out what specialist societies, clubs and volunteer groups are on offer, have a look around Bedlam Theatre and basically enjoy a week long party.  The entertainment is a mix of live music, ceilidhs, comedy (from Tom Stade), hypnotist Adam Night, a headphone party, a Caribbean beach party (luckily it’s inside) and the Hot Dub Time Machine mixing up the tunes of the last 50 years.  DM Audio is supplying our Vi6 digital console, monitors and mics for headline act Scouting For Girls who are playing at Potterrow on Tuesday supported by Angus Monroe. We are also supplying  PA (including our Vi1 digital mixer) for the local band nights, with live music courtesy of Model Aeroplane, Prides, Miaoux Miaoux and Cherri Fosphate.  DJ equipment is also on the list for Electronic music masters Utah Saints and the weekly Big Cheese which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year.  It’s all tempting me to consider becoming a mature student so I can join in the party!
This Friday and Saturday (6th&7thSept) see’s the 10th Linkylea Festival takes place in a field on the Colstoun Estate near Haddington East Lothian. DM Audio is proud as always to sponsor the event, and will be supplying PA and backline for the main stage.  The festival which raises money for impoverished children in India, is celebrating the anniversary with a Bollywood themed event with Bollywood fancy dress and decor and DJ’s bringing in Bollywood tunes.  There’s a great line-up for both days with some of the Scotland’s best live bands and DJs including Young Fathers, Bombskare, Hector Bizerk and DJ Cammy. There are also craft stalls to browse, face painting, a tasty BBQ, a well-stocked bar and much more. Camping is available on the site.
It all kicks off at 8pm on Friday so pack your tent and sari and join in the celebrations.
