one festival leads to another

Rhythmic Circus
With the Jazz Festival now finished and the Rewind and Howlin’ Fling! Festivals also behind us, here at DM Audio it’s time to start our hectic Edinburgh Fringe schedule closely followed by the Edinburgh International Festival.  We are hiring PA and backline to numerous venues across the city.
We are supplying the venue PA system for the Acoustic Music Centre @ St Brides again this year, where there is a lot to choose from. With a staggering 62 shows including Dance, Folk, Jazz, Blues, A Cappella, classical, Cabaret, Theatre, Poetry and even a children’s show you will be spoilt for choice.
At the Gilded Balloon we are providing a piano for Barry Cryer and Colin Sell’s show ‘Twittering On’ which is a mix of tweeting, twerking, freeform twirling, songs, anecdotes and scripted improvisations!! The only request is no selfies or playing of Grand Theft Auto during the show. Sounds reasonable. Another piano at the Gilded Balloon is for Green Room Award winners Backwards Anorak, this Australian group bring us ‘Winter is Coming’ a Game of Thrones type (but not) show with singing, dancing and more… magnificently madcap.
Assembly Hall has backline for American dance sensation Rhythmic Circus with their show ‘Feet Don’t Fail Me Now’ who along with tap shoes bring funky costumes, a brass band and Heatbox the human beatbox who joins the seven-piece funk bank to add an extra something to the show. They have previously won the Mervyn Stutter Spirit of the Fringe award so go along and jump to the beat. Backline is also going in for ‘50 Shades the Musical’, the international smash parody of that book. Reviews say ‘Exuberant and entertaining’, ‘Hilarious’ , ‘a titillating ultra-spicy spectacle’ . Go see it and have a titter.
We have delivered a piano to Assembly George Square where pop duo Erasure frontman Andy Bell, takes on the challenging role of age defying polysexual Torsten the Bareback Saint.  It is a one-man theatrical song-cycle in which Bell delivers musical missives from the hotspots of the memory of a learned, semi-immortal sensualist. With an unnaturally elongated life is Torsten alive or dead, a carnal incarnate or munificent saint? Erasure has a new album ‘The Violet Flame’ out in September, when they will also be on tour in America followed by a UK tour in November.
Our CLP-295 digital grand piano is the house piano for Assembly Checkpoint who are presenting a wide range of music, cabaret, comedy (including Russell Kane with ‘The Kaneing Podcast), theatre and spoken word by none other than acting royalty Dame Diana Rigg.
