a howlin' fling or rewind some 80's

Howlin Fling

This week and weekend ahead are one of the busiest so far this year for us here at DM Audio. In fact I am tasked with writing 3 blogs to try and cover all that is happening!
If you fancy a weekend off the West Coast of Scotland on beautiful Isle of Eigg, then Lost Map’s Howlin’ Fling! is for you.  Brought to you by Scottish record label Lost Map Records, with support from Homecoming Scotland 2014, this music festival runs from Friday 18th July until Sunday 20th July. DM Audio are supplying PA & backline for the festival.
Tickets for this inaugural Festival sold out in a flash. The lucky few to get hold of a ticket will be ferried over from the mainland to enjoy three days of best live music and DJs from Scotland and beyond, all culminating in a big bonfire and sing song on the Sunday evening. Ticket price for the festival includes the ferry trip to and from the island, as well as camping for the weekend.
All artists on Lost Map’s roster will be performing along with some special guests including Beth Orton, Alexis Taylor, Luke Abbott and the Pictish Trail. The full line up can be found here. There will be 2 stages with music starting on Friday evening, going on all day on Saturday and into Sunday before finishing off with the bonfire later on in the day. Head of Lost Records and island resident Johnny Lynch says “Our previous events on the island, under the Away Game name, took place in 2010 and 2012 – and both were incredible adventures. This is our first weekend bash as Lost Map, and it’s going to be the best one yet!”  Festival organisers will also be encouraging festival goers to explore their beautiful surroundings while they are on the Island, with treks to Eigg’s glass mountain, the Sgurr, for the more adventurous, or a stroll along one of the beautiful white sand beaches for those wanting a more leisurely experience.
If you missed out on tickets for this year make sure you’re 1st in the queue for next year as I’m sure this is going to be one event you won’t want to miss again.
About Lost Map: A brand new micro-label and collective unshackled by style or genre, it was formed with a pioneering spirit to reassess how we discover and explore music amid the disorientating digital geography of the 21st century.
This Friday 18th July the Rewind Festival comes back to Scone Palace Perth for its 3rd year, where DM Audio will be supplying backline for Matt Bianco.  The Rewind Festival started life 5 years ago in Henley-on-Thames, since then the festival has is Rewind North is being held at Capesthorne Hall Cheshire on 29th and 31st August.  Billed as the 80s Festival it features bands and solo artists that were at the height of their success in the 1980s so a healthy dose of nostalgia is in order for those of us who were there at the time and a chance to see what the 80s were all about the for those who missed all the fun.
Matt Bianco formed in 1982 by the late Kito Poncioni (bass), Mark Reilly (vocals) and Danny White (keyboards) had great success with their first album “Whose Side Are You On?”  Featuring the jazzy vocal arrangements of then unknown vocalist Basia Trzetrzelewska, it produced hits “Get Out of Your Lazy Bed” and “Half a Minute”, and turned Matt Bianco into one of the biggest acts in Europe in 1984.
