1pm: City Chambers: Fair Trade Parade
2pm – 7pm: Princes Street Gardens: Fair Trade Concert
DM Audio are proud to be supporters of Scotland’s Fair Trade Fiesta, which is being held in Edinburgh for the very first time with the aim of celebrating World Fair Trade Day as well highlighting Scotland’s Fair Trade Nation status achieved in February 2013. With a vivid parade and an engaging free concert involving people of all ages and backgrounds it is hoped to try and raise awareness on the Fair Trade movement. DM Audio will be supplying PA equipment for the event and we are delighted to be involved in such a worthy cause. The line- up for the free concert at The Ross Band Stand is excellent so well worth a trip to into the city center to see it.
The Fiesta will start with the parade at 1pm bringing vibrant entertainment to the streets of Edinburgh. The Rt Hon Donald Wilson, Lord Provost of the City of Edinburgh will send the parade on its way from The City Chambers in the heart of The Royal Mile down to Princes Street Gardens via The Mound.
A wide range of performers, from the Red Hot Chili Pipers, Clan Macondo dancers, Simply Soweta Encha, Edinburgh Got Soul, Calvin Arsenia, Zuba and a salsa class from Orlando Guitierrez will provide five hours of live entertainment from 2pm to 7pm at the FREE Fair Trade concert being held at the Ross Band Stand, Princes Street Gardens, ensuring an enjoyable and engaging experience for all. There will also be Fair Trade information and food & drinks stalls. The event will be MCed by writer and comedian Hardeep Singh Kohli
On an educational note, those attending will have the chance to get to know more about Fair Trade. High-profile supporters of this movement will speak at the event, reflecting on their own personal experiences and calling for actions which lead to fairer, more sustainable trade in developing countries.
Scotland’s Fair Trade Fiesta is being organised and also part sponsored by Edinburgh based Hand Up Media, the UK’s leading ethical events company that exists to platform and promote fair & ethical trade to mainstream.
