Scottish Rugby’s 2013/14 fixtures are now well under way and DM Audio are proud to be supplying PA equipment for all Edinburgh Rugby’s national games held at their home ground of Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh. The games are held both on weekdays and at weekends so there are plenty of options go along and catch a game.  Edinburgh Rugby club is steeped in history and has been fielding a rugby side featuring the cream of Scottish rugby talent for the best part of 140 years. They represent the Lothians, Borders and Tayside and Fife in the RaboDirect PRO12 and Heineken Cup competitions.
The Pro12 (sponsored by RaboDirect) is an annual rugby union competition involving professional sides from Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. The league is one of the three major professional leagues in Europe, along with the English Premiership and the French Top 14. Edinburgh Rugby’s best finish was second, in 2009.  This year the team are currently in 12^th place with 4 points but there is still a long way to go until the end of the season with only 2 points separating 12^th and 8^th places.
The Heineken Cup is one of two annual rugby union competitions organised by European Rugby Cup involving leading club, regional and provincial teams from the six International Rugby Board (IRB) countries in Europe whose national teams compete in the RBS 6 Nations championship: England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. It is one of the most prestigious trophies in the sport and has been sponsored by Dutch brewing company Heineken International since the tournament began in 1995. The competition begins with six pool of four before progressing to a straight knock out. Edinburgh Rugby’s reached the quarter-finals in 2004 and semi-final in 2012, let’s hope they go all the way this year.
Edinburgh Rugby are always keen to get youngsters involved for example through player appearances where squad members travel to clubs and schools and help to deliver skills or offer Q & A sessions.  Primary 4 and 5 children are offered the chance to be the ‘Guard of Honour’ at matches and get to wave the team flag and roar on their favourite Edinburgh Rugby players as they take to the field.  There is also of course the junior supporters club ‘Flinty’s Edinburgh Crew’.
